ElsaTalks, A session on 'Women Investor Awareness'
On the 4th of May 2018, India Habitat Centre saw a packed hall of ELSAs keenly listening to and participating in a discussion about Financial Planning and Investment Management. While data shows that less than half the financially independent women in India take their own investment decisions, the ELSAs stood out and broke that stereotype and average to be very interested in taking money matters in their own hands and equipping themselves with the knowledge to be truly financially independent. This event was the fifth in our series of ELSA Talks.
Although structured to be one hour events, this one went way past two and more.
We are absolutely overwhelmed by the participation.
If any of the chapters would like such a "Wise Women Investor" session in their cities, please write to us at ec@lsralumna.org |
#WomenEconomicEmpowerment |
Elsas participated in the panel discussion organised under the aegis of "Canada in India" by the High Commission of Canada and the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber on the subject of #WomenEconomicEmpowerment. The event saw a great exchange of ideas and lively discussion.
It was an opportunity to share issues that come in the way of empowering women and share best practices in corporates, policy domains that lead to empowering women. Panelists discussed issues with gaps and even absence of gender differentiated data in employment, and emphasised the need to develop institutional mechanisms to promote women led enterprises. ELSA representatives spoke of the need to address issues such as gender parity, equity, and creation of consciousness and awareness amongst all genders, to facilitate women’s participation in workforce. We as ELSAs are committed to work with like minded organizations to achieve the mission of empowering ourselves and our fellow women.

It is perhaps the only successful community based tourism programme in Uttarakhand managed by the community who is keen to carry the legacy of Jim Corbett forward and live his dream of making their village a model village. The activities at the village are participatory and supported by the community.
