The LSR Effect – Tina Dabi

Tina Dabi, Political Science Honours, Batch of 2013 topped the 2015 civil services examination at a young age of 22 and that too in her very first attempt.

Tina is the topper of her batch and was declared “Student of the Year”.

Keeping with the hallmark of LSR learning, Tina has opted for the Haryana cadre. She has been quoted to have stated, “Haryana appeared to be most interesting to me. In my college, we are taught gender equality, which is something lacking in Haryana and I would like to bring a stop to it. I hope to make a difference in gender equality”.
We are with you all the way Tina!

Trading in Stories – Don’t miss this one Bangalore Chapter’s celebrates completion of its Five years

Sumedha Verma Ojha's (Economics Honours, Batch of 1989) lecture at IGNCA on May 24, 2016 at 4.30 P.M.

Sumedhais an Author and Speaker on Ancient Indian History, Religion and Philosophy. Her first book 'Urnabhih', set against the backdrop of the Mauryan empire, came out in 2014 and the sequel is now complete. Based on the extension of the Mauryan Empire to Afghanistan it has involved much research on the trade routes of the period. She is currently working on a Valmiki Ramayan in English to be published with the Rajasthani miniatures of the reunified JagatRamayan of the 17th century. A book on women of ancient India is in the concept and research stage.

A milestone 5th-anniversary celebration brought several enthusiastic ELSAs of the Bangalore Chapter together on May 7 for a well-attended lunch get together. Besides the familiar group, they had several new ELSA attendees also join in to meet, catch up, introduce themselves and blend into the group. Vinita Bali mooted the idea of setting up of an ELSA portal, whereby we could showcase any large scale projects that ELSAs were involved in.

ELSA Travel Hub Cruising with TravELSA

We all know that travelling together is a wonderful way to discover the world, ourselves, and each other.

The ELSA Travel Hub – travELSA – kicked off earlier this month with the Far East cruise and is going to put together many opportunities for us to come together – old friends and new – and explore different destinations, share memories and create new ones, and of course, leave an ELSA footprint wherever we go! Every trip will be a different, unique and bespoke experience.

Vandana Sarin, History Honours, Batch of 1977, is the coordinator and is planning an exciting travel calendar – with diverse trips, short and longer, in India and overseas, luxury and regular, adventure and the options are endless ... Different Chapter members are invited to take the initative and organize local experiences. Just need it to be under the TravELSA umbrella so anyone visiting can join in. Vandana can be reached at travelsa@lsralumna.org. Do send her your ideas, and your wish list, and also if you are have a travel or related service you would like to offer. For Elsas by Elsas...travELSA

Musings of an Elsa, Binu Mullick, (English Honours, Batch of 1977)

It only needed a decisive spouse to make up the mind of a wavering Elsa, to jump on board the first TRAVELSA trip !! There was no stopping us!

For Deepak and me this was our first ever cruise, the luxury liner Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas, sailing from Singapore -Kuala Lumpur-Phuket -Singapore was such a treat, five days of non stop action, activity and party!

The much needed break, I had for a month been working as full time housekeeper and cook (in my own house!) Bought some new clothes, casual and formal, a new cabin bag and there we were on board!

I took part in all activities!! Dancing, swimming, spa treatments, EATING and DRINKING, and of course shopping at the Royal Promenade!

The entertainment was awesome, the Broadway Shows and Musical nights absolutely superb, also thrown in was a Bollywood night.......

Thanks Vandana for initiating me, though missed you, but sure carried the ELSA flag!
