The Highest Laurels

Without exception, one of our most inspiring alumna, Aung San Suu Kyi took her seat at a historic session in Parliament in Myanmar on Monday, 01st February after her National League for Democracy (NLD) won in a majority sweep in the November elections.

It is reported her “muted appearance ..belied the extraordinary significance of the quarter-century struggle she had led to get here.”

As we write, there are reports that negotiations between the NLD leader and Myanmar’s military to remove a clause that bars her from becoming President are going well.

As we await the announcement, the best wishes of ELSAs all over the world are with her.

Errata: The ELSA Book Club

Thank you for pointing out the error in last week’s post.

The correct date and day for the first 2016 Book Club Meet in Delhi is 27th February, Saturday. The time remains the same 2 pm to 4 pm.

Hope you are enjoying Atwood’s work already, and have confirmed your attendance on the FB Event page

What are ELSAs doing?

We have a huge community of vey talented alumni. Unfortunately we don’t always know anything about their achievements.

Do you know of alumni doing things we all would like to hear about? Are you one of them? Achievements, awards, new and innovative paths, great causes, artistic pursuits – exhibitions, performances, talks – send us a mail so that we can share it with everyone. Write to info@lsralumna.org with the subject line What ELSAs are Doing.

6 Benches already! 9 more to go

Thank you ELSAs for kicking off the ‘giving’. Six alumni have contributed benches for College.

For those of you who missed the ELSA Post of 12th January, College needs 15 Benches on the Campus and in the spirit of supporting College, this is our first step this year. The cost of each bench is Rs. 7,500/- (not 5,000). You could donate an entire ELSA bench in your name or get together with other alumni. If you like, a plaque with your name (or chosen dedication) could be included on the bench. Send a mail to give@lsralumna.org with College Benches in the subject line and the team will tell you about the process and payment.

Let’s help College, ELSAs!
