Message – President EC ELSA 2017/19

Dear fellow alumni and friends,
How time flies! It is been two years now that our EC of the ELSA Alumni Association took charge.

Hope you have blocked your diaries for both the Annual Dinner- “Namma ELSA” at Bangalore on Aug 10 and ELSA AGM at LSR on Sep-14. AGM of course is open to only registered lifetime members of ELSA. Promise both will be fun, with some doses of serious stuff!

So if you are still wondering whether you should take up membership, don’t blink- jump into the ELSA field now! If it helps you decide, here’s a brief recap of how our alumni body is simply awesome & needs each one of you-

That sweet sweet data…
ELSA association is evolving and becoming more inclusive as many more alumni have joined us- your membership gives you access to the whole database on our website! That’s a rich resource on how you can connect better and develop new synergies.

Network..Network..Network

Global Mentorship Network, Annual Mentoring Walk, ELSA Talks & Conversations from gender concerns to leadership, ELSA HUB and women entrepreneurship exhibits, Basant Bazaar, ELSA Cultural HUB are all activities that are not just enjoyable but will open new horizons!

And then there is a whole world of partnerships with organizations such as SHEROES and now with the BML Munjal University- all wanting to help you get back to work after sabbaticals, sprucing leadership, connecting you with new opps! Hope you follow us on ELSA social media where we keep posting all information on our programs- ELSA website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & LinkedIn and of course the monthly Post. All editions of Post are uploaded on ELSA website. Happy Browsing.

Where do we go now?
This EC’s term is soon coming to an end with Elections for 2019/21 underway. As we proceed with the EC elections, so as to ensure that a new EC with a fresh mandate picks up the work and launches new initiatives, we have put in place a Code of Conduct for the candidates who would like to serve as EC members in future terms. To create more accountability and responsiveness, we have also put in place an internal assessment of EC members. We undertook this exercise, as a vote of confidence on EC members who collectively we feel should stand for next 2019/21 EC elections and serve ELSA. ELSA is a young institution but evolving fast as a strong forum and going forward we need to maintain continuity of work with highest standards of commitment and ethics.

Finally, in my capacity as ‘outgoing’ (or rather ‘outgone’) President, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my fellow EC members and alumni for your support. There are challenges, limitations, and sometimes unseen blips, but it has been a wonderful two years. There is a lot more that can be done to improve our work and increase collaboration amongst the alumni. Your engagement in ELSA activities & our chapters as well as informal communities, including through membership, are an essential part of making all of these achievements possible.

I invite you to come forward, present your ideas, become ELSA members, participate in all activities, become volunteers…..

Diversity is welcome..
Differences abound within our community, but we also share core values- a commitment to service, a belief in access and opportunity, the drive to make a positive difference — that unite us. Stay cool! see you in Bangalore and at the Delhi AGM!!

Best wishes,
Vinita
EC ELSA President 2017-19

TILL JULY 31st only

Handlooms and Heirlooms

Hello ladies the countdown has begun- 15 days to the AD! Now it’s time to peep into your wardrobe and figure out what to wear! In keeping with the theme of Sustainable living this year, we’d like you to wear something that’s linked to ‘Heritage’- either from our cultural heritage which could mean something with exquisite handwork or your own personal heritage which means something from your family heirloom that has a story- the sari that came down to you from your grandmother, a piece of jewellery or accessory. The idea is to appreciate slow fashion, handwork & reuse what we own rather than acquire more.

Email us a picture of what you plan to wear (ideally a picture of you wearing it) along with the story behind it and the 2 best entries will win a beautiful sari each from Taneira at the Annual Dinner!
Send in your entries no later than the 4th of August 2019 to nammaelsa@gmail.com
