ElsaTalks 2, Bangalore
Bangalore, April 15, 2018
The second in the series in Bangalore, the theme for this was ‘Pursuing Excellence’. Our eminent Panelists were Abhijit Saha (chef-entrepreneur), Arundhati Nag (actor, theatre worker and founder Rangashankara), Divyanshu Ganatra (founder Adventures beyond Barriers)and Shekar Vishwanathan(vice-chairman Toyota Kirloskar Motors). The discussion was moderated by ELSA, Vinita Bali.
The response was overwhelming and we had an absolutely full house! The discussion touched upon many aspects that led to excellence in different spheres of life. All panelists agreed that there were common characteristics of joy, perseverance and passion that are integral to the pursuit of excellence.
The discussion had comments and questions from the audience, many of whom expressed their desire to attend the next talk as well. Save the date for the next talk in Bangalore on June 17th.

ELSA Bangalore Moderator Workshop |
Bangalore, April 07, 2018
We all knew Vinita Bali as a Moderator of repute and had seen, first hand, her excellent work with panelists and audiences at two editions of Elsa Talks, Bangalore. So, when she offered to share her knowledge through a one day workshop, 'Moderating Panel Discussions', many ELSAs took advantage of her generous offer.
Vinita had emailed us previously a set of things to watch and do: our “homework” as she called it. The workshop started early, with a perfect blend of seriousness and enthusiasm. She began by getting us to identify what we expect from a good panel discussion. Linked to that, Vinita then demonstrated what obviously were the characteristics of an effective Moderator. The session ended with a 10 minute role play of Panelists and Moderator and a discussion on what worked and what did not in that specific instance. All in all, it was a very successful and informative workshop.
Vinita Bali is clearly not only a great Moderator, but also a gentle and elegant teacher.

Elsas meet over Pottery and Biryani |
The day was bright and sunny...one of the last few days of spring. Fifteen Elsas from Gurgaon and Delhi got together at Rekha Bajpe Aggarwal's studio to learn the basics of pottery. Rekha, a gracious hostess, welcomed everyone to her Studio4Clay at the terrace of her beautiful home in Sushant Lok, and explained the process of firing raw pieces and the glazes.
Each enthusiast picked up bright coloured aprons, newspapers, rolling pins, bags of wet clay and with great gusto started rolling the clay balls into thick chapati like forms, rolled it into coils, and turned out fun shapes and designs- little cups, soap dishes, bowls, candy plates and many more! The fun morning of dabbling in clay was followed by a delicious Biryani lunch where participants mingled in true the ELSA spirit.

The first Chai of Cancer Adda of 2018 - even as we begin preparing for Season 5, our supporters are eager to put the Chai for Cancer show on the road. Gayatri Srivastava and her husband threw open their home and hearth to her college friends on Friday the 6th. ELSA Mumbai Chapter Alumni got together at her warm and welcoming home for what Shantanu called the Sundowners for a Cause. The pictures tell you about a wonderful evening where close friends raised their cups and drank to a cause.
